Perfect complexion: our tips for perfect skin, even without foundation!

A flawless complexion without makeup seems impossible? Not when you have the right tips and adopt the right beauty routine. Eating habits, skincare to favor… We tell you everything you need to know for beautiful skin without foundation!
A hectic daily life can quickly alter the appearance of our skin... Between pollution, junk food, stress and all the other parasites that can be added to our daily lives, it is not surprising to suffer from skin in poor condition. To remedy this, all you need to do is adopt good habits.
Step 1: Know your skin type
Before treating a problem, we always try to understand its origin and how we can best treat it! It's the same for taking care of your skin. Each person is unique, the same goes for skin that meets certain criteria in order to be categorized! Combination, oily, dry, sensitive, depending on its definition, the skin will require specific care. It is therefore essential before embarking on any routine, to diagnose your skin type. Many tests are available on the internet but the best thing is still to call on a professional (a dermatologist for example), to be sure to be guided towards the right choices.
To better understand your skin type:
- Combination skin: dry on the cheeks and oily on the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin). Moisturize with a light moisturizer or a watery floral serum.
- Dry skin: it feels tight and may have flakes! Dry skin requires rich hydration, with a cream, gel or balm.
- Sensitive skin: it is very reactive to cold, heat, wind... in short, to all kinds of external aggressions. A gentle and soothing treatment (like rosehip oil) remains the best for this type of skin.
- Oily skin: oily skin suffers from excess sebum all over the face. It can present imperfections (pimples, blackheads). Contrary to popular belief, oily skin requires good hydration! We make sure to clean it gently with neutral soaps and choose mattifying treatments.

Step 2: Adopt a healthy and balanced diet
There is no miracle recipe, everything we eat ends up showing on our skin. For even, plumped skin, with a glowing and luminous complexion, we make sure to eat healthily and in a balanced way (while allowing ourselves a few indulgences for pleasure). How? We avoid saturated fats and refined sugars as much as possible (meals to reheat, cold meats, industrial pastries, industrial sauces... in short, everything industrial). We add as much fruit as possible (rich in water and vitamins) to our diet. But be careful, fruit is eaten as a snack, at breakfast or as a snack. We avoid eating it as a dessert so as not to suffer from bloating because fruit ferments in the stomach when it comes into contact with other foods. The ideal (almost magical) food for a sunny complexion is the carrot! No, it doesn't make you look nice, but yes, it can give us the perfect complexion.
The benefits of carotene: Incorporating carotene into your diet would be an excellent way to keep a fresh and luminous complexion naturally! Why? The beta-carotene present in carrots is rich in vitamin A. A vitamin that boosts and strengthens the skin by also making it more radiant. The ideal is to drink carrot juice every morning as a three-week treatment. To vary your diet and pleasures, papaya, pumpkin or even mango (which all contain carotene) are also very good allies for a radiant complexion!
Drink plenty of water: obviously, carotene is not a miracle ingredient (almost?), besides that you have to keep in mind that hydration remains the basis of healthy skin (and body). We hydrate ourselves regularly throughout the day (up to 1.5 L). To be sure not to forget our daily dose of water, keep a small water bottle close to us, which we will make sure to fill as soon as we see the bottom! If water does not appeal to us, we can do a detox by adding citrus fruits like lemon, orange or even mint leaves, passion fruit, strawberries or raspberries... In short, anything that we fancy and that can make water more appetizing while doing us good.
Step 3: adopt the right actions in your daily life
If eating a balanced diet is a good thing in itself, there are others to adopt to complete our beauty routine and have beautiful skin naturally.
- Getting enough sleep: it seems obvious, and yet in France we are not the best students when it comes to sleep quota! Night owls are commonplace, but it is often our pace of life that prevents us from doing otherwise. The best thing to do is to organize your days carefully, stop work at 5:30/6 p.m. (a file is not complete? Too bad, it can wait until tomorrow). Eat dinner early (7 p.m.) to aid digestion, relax in front of a good film (or any other activity you enjoy) and finally turn off all screens a good hour before going to bed (blue light is a stimulant, in addition to damaging the skin!). 8 hours of sleep are necessary for adults to regenerate their energy properly.
- Avoiding addictive substances: easier said than done. However, cutting out cigarettes and alcohol are two essential and major factors if you want to get back a porcelain complexion without overdoing it on the makeup brush.
- Practice facial gymnastics: otherwise known as facial yoga, facial gymnastics is a series of exercises that consist of working the muscles present in this part of the body in order to avoid any sagging or excess fat! Tutorials are easily found on YouTube, and books have even been published on the subject (see "Face Yoga" by Sylvie Lefranc). This trend has many followers and the results are reliable: elasticity, plumped skin, glowy complexion (activated blood microcirculation).
- Apply your moisturizer AND sunscreen daily: two gestures that are quickly forgotten in the frenzy of life. Moisturizing your skin and protecting it from the sun is essential. To avoid spots, premature aging and any other sun-related problems.
