Thin eyebrows: over-plucking is not a good idea

Thin eyebrows: over-plucking is not a good idea

Coralie Techer

Thin eyebrows are slowly coming back into fashion. However, it's not really a good idea to over-pluck them. Explanations.

Thin eyebrows, trendy or not?

We see it coming back to the forefront more and more. New generation stars like Bella Hadid or Julia Fox are even going so far as to adopt the ultra-thin eyebrow look and are making it a real trend on social networks. While some see it as a real beauty statement, others refuse the idea of this fashion comeback at all costs... When we know that eyebrows define and structure the harmony of facial features, we quickly understand how the trend of skinny eyebrows, or even that of bleached eyebrows, can unbalance all that.

It should also be noted that eyebrows that are too thin tend to harden facial features but also age their appearance. Eyebrow specialist Joss Devilleneuve (founder of the Atelier du Sourcil institutes) believes that plucking your eyebrows every month is more than enough. In the meantime, don't touch them to avoid a disaster, that is to say: blocking their regrowth, or even stopping it altogether permanently.

How to grow back over-plucked eyebrows?

Our eyebrows adorn our gaze and protect our eyes from external aggressions. They are the first barrier before the eyelashes. As you will have understood, beyond the aesthetic aspect, it is essential to maintain them for the well-being of these two organs. But how to grow your eyebrows when you have been heavy-handed with hair removal?

Stop hair removal (even at home) until it grows back.

A little patience, we forget the wax strips, epilators and tweezers. We give the eyebrows a 2 to 4 month break so that the hairs grow back fully. Once the eyebrow is sufficiently provided, you can make an appointment at the institute to define the natural eyebrow line that best suits your facial morphology.

While waiting for them to grow back, you can always apply makeup to your eyebrows and give them the desired line using an eyebrow pencil or eye shadow in the same color as your natural hairs.

Exfoliate your eyebrows to stimulate regrowth

We never really think about it. But exfoliating your eyebrows is very beneficial for regrowth. Why? It helps activate blood circulation, eliminate dead skin and refine the skin's texture. The hairs then have more freedom to grow.

How to do it? Pour a few drops of coconut oil into your palm, and add a pinch of coffee grounds. Gently rub the skin of your eyebrows with the mixture. Rinse with lukewarm water. Repeat once or twice a week during regrowth.

Take vitamins!

Our diet plays a determining role in the overall regrowth of hair. An unhealthy diet, poor in vitamins, minerals, trace elements, will only damage the quality of our skin, our hair, and our hair in general. It all starts from the inside, think about having a supplement by integrating into your diet food supplements based on vitamin B, biotin or even brewer's yeast.

Moisturize eyebrow hairs

Nothing beats hydration! Even for our eyebrow hairs, yes yes.

To moisturize and boost the regrowth of your eyebrows, trust castor oil. Known since the dawn of time for its moisturizing and nourishing properties, you can apply it in a circular massage and leave it on as a mask all night. In the morning, don't forget to wash your face well and remove all oil residue.

All the natural methods that can be useful to better hydrate your eyebrows:

  • Coconut oil

Coconut oil has conditioning and protective properties. The fatty acids in it work with the natural proteins in the hair to protect it from breakage. The lauric acid it contains acts as an antimicrobial agent, preventing infection of the hair follicles. The various proteins as well as nutrients such as vitamin E and iron present in coconut oil promote the regrowth of eyelashes and eyebrows.

For quick and noticeable results, you can apply it several times a week, every evening. But be careful not to expose yourself to the sun. Oil in general is an excellent conductor for UV rays.

  • Onion juice

You've probably heard about this beauty trend. Onion juice is said to promote hair regrowth.

Indeed, onion is one of the foods richest in sulfur, selenium, vitamins B and C which are very good for hair growth. Sulfur improves the production of collagen tissues necessary for good eyebrow growth. You can apply it two to three times a week for a good half hour. The only downside is its smell which can be unpleasant to bear.

Onion juice for eyebrows

  • Fenugreek seeds

Fenugreek seeds are rich in protein, they contain nicotinic acid and lecithin which promote the growth and reconstruction of hair follicles. For effective results, you can apply the powder or oil two to three times a week on your eyebrows.

  • Aloe vera gel

Aloe vera contains a compound called aloenin that promotes the growth of hair follicles by nourishing them. Its chemical composition is similar to that of keratin, which allows it to give more elasticity and prevent hair breakage, soothing the skin around the eyebrows. Aloe vera easily penetrates the skin and can be applied several times a day for thick and voluminous eyebrows permanently.

How to do it? Apply aloe vera gel and gently massage the eyebrows until it is absorbed. Let it sit for 30 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.
