What are the characteristics of grunge makeup?

Very much in vogue in the '80s and '90s, grunge make-up basically favors a nonchalant, casual look. Key elements include smoky eyes, often achieved with dark eyeshadow, sometimes imperfectly applied to give that unstructured look. Dark colors like black, gray or brown can also be used to intensify the look. Lips can be made up with dark shades, such as burgundy, dark brown or plum lipsticks, accentuating the rebellious side.

Grunge make-up in 2023 

 2023 is a year of revival. After rehashing all the fashion trends of the 2000s, it's now the turn of past beauty trends to resurface. Grunge makeup, which was all the rage in the 80s and 90s, is back in the spotlight, but in a slightly different way. Indeed, the "grunge makeup" of 2023 continues to draw inspiration from the rebellious and unconventional style of the 90s movement, but it has inevitably evolved to adapt to current trends. 

Focus on the eyes:

Eyes remain the center of attention. Dark, unstructured smoky eyes are always present, but we also see the use of bright or metallic colors for a more modern effect. Graphic liners and colored eyeshadow, sometimes applied in unconventional ways, are also popular.
