How to get doe eyes?

How to get doe eyes?

ROSEGOLD Paris

A symbol of glamour par excellence, doe eyes enlarge the eyes and enhance the whole look. To get it right first time, we've got a few tips for you. Handling liner, choosing eyeshadow, applying the right care... Difficult? Don't panic, we've got a six-step guide to success.

The doe eye is an eye make-up technique that aims to create a sensual, slightly bewitching, almond-shaped look, similar to that of a doe (hence the name). This technique focuses on widening the outer corners of the eyes to give them a more elongated shape and a more dramatic appearance. Here's how to achieve a doe eye in make-up:

The six essential steps to successful doe-eye make-up.

1. Always apply an eye primer

It's an essential rule, if not the very first rule of make-up! Before embarking on a make-up session (no matter what kind), we apply a base. For both complexion and eyelids. An eyelid base helps eye make-up to set and stay intense all day long. It's also a good way to prevent liner from coloring, thus avoiding the "panda" effect at the end of the day.

2. Choosing the right eye shadow

Once you've applied the base, the next step is to choose the eye shadow that will define the intensity of your eyes. For a modern look, choose a creamy nude or pearly eye shadow. If color is a must, opt for ochre, rust or warm brown.

3. Apply a nourishing eyelash serum

The doe-eyed look can't be achieved without longer lashes! Since we're not all lucky enough to have been born with Brigitte Bardot's lashes, serums that help regrow them (like our ROSELASH serum) are indispensable assets. In just a few weeks of application, you can already see the difference. With everyday use, consider that the serum in question can act as a base for mascara, helping it to hold better while caring for the lashes.

4. Dare to use the famous eyeliner line

It's scary in many ways: you're afraid of taking the plunge and ending up with a black eye. But that's normal! To apply liner successfully, you need to be comfortable with your applicator. Always choose the one that suits you best. In store, before you buy (and if possible), it's best to ask for a trial, so you can understand how to use it and choose the one you're most comfortable with. Brush, felt-tip pen, pencil... There are enough liner types to choose from!

Drawing a pencil line is easy:

the first line is drawn flush with the upper lashes. Beware: the urban legend of stretching the eyelid while applying the line is false! It distorts the liner line more than it helps. Once you've drawn your first line, it's up to you to define the thickness you want. Tip: to avoid shaking, sit facing a mirror on a table and rest your elbows on the table. Glamorous make-up guaranteed.

5. Eyelash curler yes, but before mascara!

It's a must-have for those who want their lashes curled 24/7. The eyelash curler may look like an instrument of torture, but it's nonetheless beloved by beautystas, and above all very easy to use. Just three little squeezes on each side for long, beautifully curled lashes in just five minutes. The right idea? Run the eyelash curler under very hot water to facilitate curling of the lash hairs...

6. The final touch, applying mascara

Once you've gone through all these steps for a doe-eyed look, we finish off with the final touch: lengthening mascara. Some say it's an essential part of any beauty routine: mascara opens the eyes and intensifies them in a "natural" way. It gently lengthens lashes, as long as you don't overdo it and end up with clumps. To apply mascara correctly, lightly zigzag the product from the inside to the outside of the lashes, stretching towards the outer corner. You may go back a second time, but avoid multiple coats of mascara, which leave ugly clumps... Not to mention that they weigh down the lashes, cancelling out the "lengthened, curled" effect you've been aiming for all along.

What you need for doe eye make-up

To make up a doe eye, you'll need several make-up products and tools to achieve the desired look.

  1. Eyelid make-up base: An eyelid make-up base can help even out the texture of eyelid skin and make make-up last longer.

  2. Eyeshadow: You can use one or more shades of eyeshadow to create the base color on your eyelids. Generally opt for neutral shades for a classic doe-eyed look.

  4. Eyeliner brush or bevelled brush: Use this brush to apply eyeliner with precision, and to create the doe-eye comma or wing.

  6. Mascara: Mascara adds length and volume to lashes. Choose a mascara that suits your needs, whether it's lengthening, volumizing or water-resistant.

  8. Tweezers (optional): Tweezers can be useful for accurately placing false lashes and adjusting them if necessary.

  9. Eyelash curler (optional): An eyelash curler can help give your natural lashes an elegant curve before mascara application.

  11. Eye make-up remover: It's important to have a good quality eye make-up remover to remove make-up when you're done.

  12. Cotton buds and cotton pads: You can use these products to correct mistakes and gently cleanse sensitive areas around the eyes.

Tips from the editor :

For eyes to be part of a harmonious whole, it's a good idea to think about a pretty complexion. Choose a light foundation (the eyes are already well worked out!). Like a CC Crème or a tinted cream. To add the healthy-glow effect, we start with a touch of creamy blush (pink or peach) and finish with a glossy, gourmand mouth. Since the eyes are emphasized, it's not advisable to choose a lipstick that's too flashy... But make-up is a matter of taste, so to each his own!
