When you're looking to enhance your eyes, false eyelashes come to mind. They're a beauty must-have. While some people master the art of applying them to perfection, others are more reluctant to pull out the glue and pliers... It was precisely for this second category of beauty addict that Katy Stoka (founder of the One Two Cosmetics brand) created magnetic false eyelashes a few years ago ... Since then, many brands have followed suit, and let's face it, they've done well. Let's face it, magnetic false eyelashes are a small revolution in the world of beauty. Magnetic strips are simply placed on the lash line to create a doe-eyed look in no time... What a great idea!

What's the difference between classic and magnetic false eyelashes?

To put it simply, classic false eyelashes are glued on. They come in a box with a tube of special glue and sometimes dedicated tweezers (or you can simply use your own tweezers). They are glued to the base of natural lashes to enhance their appearance. The idea may sound good, but applying them isn't the easiest thing in the world. Especially if you're a novice! It's a technique that takes practice, and that's what discourages many.

How exactly do magnetic false eyelashes work?

Tout dépend des marques, certaines vont proposer des faux cils à doubles bandes aimantées pour pouvoir se clipser sur les cils naturels (au niveau de leur base). D'autres vont proposer un eyeliner magnétique (à dessiner au ras des cils supérieurs) qui va attirer et retenir les petits bouquets de faux cils. Magnetic false eyelashes cost between €10 and €40, depending on the brand and model. A little more than traditional glue models, but still very cost-effective given the number of possible re-uses. 

How often can you wear magnetic false eyelashes?

As with all things, if you're careful when applying them and take the time to maintain them, magnetic false eyelashes can be worn up to 40 times! That's not bad at all, and it saves you trips to the beautician for repeated lash extensions or enhancements. 

How do I apply magnetic false eyelashes?

Just as with conventional false eyelashes, magnetic false eyelashes require meticulous application, and a number of steps must be followed. Follow the guide and make sure you never (again) miss a trick: 

Step 1: Check that everything is ok.

As with classic false lashes, we check that the upper fringe of magnetic lashes is the right size. If it's larger than our eye, we cut it accordingly to keep the look as natural as possible and, above all, to avoid embarrassment.

Step 2: Make-up! 

To avoid ruining the application (which would be a shame), we apply make-up from A to Z before applying our magnetic false eyelashes. Foundation, eyeliner, eyeshadow, but also a coat of mascara to intensify the doe-eyed result, and even a lash serum to boost regrowth! You can have it all.

Step 3: apply magnetic false lashes

It's time to apply your false lashes. It's a bit of a handful, but once you've mastered it, it's pretty easy! If the lashes have magnetic strips, simply clip them onto the natural lashes. If the false eyelashes are accompanied by a magnetized eyeliner, first draw the black line with the magnetized particles at the top of the lashes, then simply place the lash fringe on top! It's (almost) magical.

How do I remove magnetic false eyelashes?

The remarkable thing about magnetic false eyelashes is that they can be reused (up to 40 times!), so you need to remove them carefully to avoid damaging them. After you've enjoyed them (all evening or all day), gently remove the magnetic strips from the false lashes, working from the inner to the outer corner of the eye. Be careful, though, or you risk tearing off your natural lashes. If you've used the false eyelashes with magnetic eyeliner, remember to remove the excess liner and magnetic particles from the magnetic strip so you can use it again. Finally, store them in their box until you're ready to use them again.
