How to get rid of pimples?

How to get rid of pimples?

Coralie Techer

When they're too prevalent, pimples can become a real nuisance for those who suffer from them. So how do you get rid of them, and above all, how do you prevent them from appearing in the first place? We take a closer look.

The appearance of pimples is never really good news... As soon as they appear, we want to get rid of them, even if it means hurting ourselves by piercing, tearing or bleeding them. Once the pimple's out, you need to get rid of it gently, using medical or natural methods. The best way to prevent pimples from appearing in the first place is to adopt the right precautions.

Why do we get pimples?

Pimples, also known as acne, are a common skin condition that occurs when the skin's hair follicles become clogged with sebum (the famous oil produced by the sebaceous glands) and dead skin cells. When bacteria develop in these follicles as a result of this blockage, inflammation sets in and a pimple of varying size forms.

Various factors involved

Pimples can be caused by many different factors. It's especially during adolescence that we find ourselves struggling with them. But that's normal! Pimples are mainly caused by hormonal changes during adolescence, pregnancy or menstruation. Genetic factors, allergic reactions and skin irritations can also be the cause.

It's simple: if you're prone to the phenomenon, to prevent pimples it's best to review your lifestyle. It has to be impeccable!

How can I avoid pimples?

To avoid breakouts, you'll need to implement a new routine. Both in terms of your skincare habits and your diet. The latter is the most important! A healthy body from the inside out is automatically visible from the outside.

The right routine for your skin

The skincare step is an obvious one when you have problem skin. However, we tend to over-clean and overuse all kinds of products... To avoid all this, make sure you adopt the right gestures with a facial routine for oily skin. To avoid all this, make sure you adopt the right gestures with a facial routine for oily skin. Beforehand, make a skin diagnosis with a professional who will then be able to establish a perfect, personalized routine.

Good skin cleansing is essential: washing the face once or twice a day with a gentle, non-irritating cleanser removes dust residues, dead cells and excess sebum without damaging sebum production. Avoid aggressive soaps, make-up removers and cleansers, which can irritate the skin, accelerate sebum production and, as a result, cause imperfections.

Avoid comedogenic products:They are less and less present on the market, but it's still a good idea to check that skincare products, sun creams and make-up are non-comedogenic, so as not to clog pores.

Choose skincare products adapted to your skin type: It takes several tries before you find the perfect skin care product, and that's normal. Don't be afraid to try out different skincare products and observe their effects on your skin. Whether it's a moisturizing cream, an eye and face serum, a mask... you're bound to find the one that's right for you.

Adopting new habits

Diet, daily habits, drastically changing habits can have a noticeable effect on skin problems.

Groping your face is stop: stop touching your face all the time. For some, it's an automatic gesture, and you really need to work at stopping it. Hands are often dirty (even if you can't see it), and can transfer bad bacteria, dirt and oil to the skin. Not to mention the fact that fiddling with them can make imperfections worse!

Ban fatty foods (as much as possible): if you're really motivated, you can stop eating fatty foods such as fried foods, fatty meats, processed foods, fast food and high-fat dairy products altogether. Alternatively, you can simply drastically reduce their intake. Limiting yourself to once a week is a good start.

Intense hydration: drink water, that's tip number 1. Don't wait until you're thirsty, keep a full water bottle by your side all day long. The goal? At least 2L a day. If water alone doesn't help motivate you to drink it, you can combine it with aromatic herbs or citrus fruits to make a detox water.

Relax:easier said than done, of course. But stress is also the enemy of beautiful skin. And why is that? By raising cortisol levels, it stimulates the production of sebum, which clogs pores and encourages the appearance of imperfections such as blackheads and pimples. To minimize the negative effects of stress on the skin, it's important to manage stress effectively. Stress management methods such as meditation, yoga, regular exercise, deep breathing and muscle relaxation can all help reduce stress levels and improve skin health.

What natural and effective methods are there to combat pimples?

Many people are reluctant to take controversial chemical treatments for acne. While in many cases they prove extremely effective, they suffer a little too much from the side effects... Fortunately, there are natural and effective solutions for treating acne. They simply require pugnacity and patience.

Apple cider vinegar to purify: Apple cider vinegar has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce the inflammation and redness associated with acne. It can also help balance skin pH and eliminate excess sebum. Dilute apple cider vinegar with water and apply to infected areas with a cotton swab.

Honey to soothe: it has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can eliminate acne-causing bacteria and reduce inflammation. Apply a thin layer of honey to the affected areas and leave on for around 10-15 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water.

Tea tree essential oil: also known as tea tree essential oil, this essence has antibacterial properties that have already earned it a reputation for treating blemish concerns. Apply a small amount of tea tree essential oil diluted with neutral vegetable oil to the affected areas. Leave on overnight and admire the results!

Aloe vera for healing and reducing inflammation: This magical plant has many properties. It is reputed to be soothing and anti-inflammatory. Choose pure aloe vera gel if possible (it's best to grow it in a jar and extract the gel directly). Apply a thin layer of aloe vera gel to the affected areas, leave to dry and then rinse off with lukewarm water. You can also leave it on overnight as a poultice. Aloe vera is also an excellent healing agent.

It's important to understand that these natural methods may not work for everyone, and that you should consult a dermatologist if you have persistent acne problems.
