Winter skin requires a completely different routine. To protect it effectively from the cold and external aggressions, we adopt the right gestures.
Tight skin, dry skin, redness... Whatever our skin type, in winter our cutaneous barrier is put to the test and suffers from many ailments. It inevitably requires more care than usual. After the heat of summer (see the perfect summer beauty routine) and the humidity of autumn, the dry, cool air of winter requires a few adjustments to our routine. Intense hydration, comforting textures and formulas that nourish our skin. Let's face it, the beauty world has everything you need for pampered winter skin.

Why adapt your beauty routine to the seasons?
It's important to understand that it's important to adapt your beauty routine to the seasons, because our skin's needs change according to climatic conditions. Variations in temperature, humidity, wind, sun, rain and even our diet can affect the health and appearance of our skin, hair and nails.
For example, in winter, skin may be drier and need more intensive moisturizing to combat the cold and wind. In summer, skin tends to be oilier, and may need more sun protection to prevent damage from UV rays. In spring and autumn, the skin may undergo more subtle changes, such as variations in texture or color, which also require an adaptation of the beauty routine...
In addition, skincare and make-up products are often formulated with seasonal ingredients to meet the skin's needs at different times of the year. For example, moisturizing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid may be more frequently used in skincare products in winter, while mattifying ingredients such as rice powder may be more commonly used in make-up products in summer. All these small variations and details prove that it's important, even necessary, to adapt your beauty routine to the seasons to maintain healthy, beautiful skin, hair and nails all year round.

Beauty tips for winter

Just like the spirit, in winter the skin seeks comfort... Maltreated by capricious weather, wind and dry air, it quickly becomes dry and dull. Moisturizers, dietary supplements, specific skin care products... Here are a few beauty tips to adopt for beautiful skin in winter:
Moisturize your skin, inside and out
In terms of cosmetics, use a moisturizing cream based on vegetable oil, a balm or a rich butter (such as mango butter or shea butter) to bring comfort to your skin and protect it from the elements. For the face, opt for formulations with hyaluronic acid for deep skin hydration and vitamin C for radiance, whether cream, face serum or eye contour serum. And don't forget to drink water, herbal teas and tea, whatever you need to top up your daily water intake. Hydration also means eating green vegetables, juicy fruit and seasonal soups.

Protect your skin with sun cream
In winter, the sun's UV rays can be just as strong as in summer. And even when we can't see it, the sun hidden behind the clouds does have an effect on our skin. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (UVA and UVB) every day, for the body but especially for the face (an area particularly exposed in winter) to protect your skin from sun damage such as premature skin aging, pigmentation spots and other more or less serious problems.
Avoid water that's too hot
Exfoliating once a week
For radiant skin, use a gentle exfoliator at least once a week. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells from the surface of the skin barrier, boosts cell renewal and considerably improves skin texture, leaving it healthy, soft and radiant, even in winter.
Taking care of your lips
Lips also deserve attention in winter, especially as it's the most difficult season for them to suffer from dryness, chapping and other little worries. A moisturizing lip balm during the day, exfoliation once a week and a special night mask for lips before bedtime to deeply moisturize them!
Avoid irritating fabrics
In winter, the skin is constantly stressed by the fabrics it wears. It's best to opt for noble, natural materials (whenever possible) that won't irritate already sensitive skin, and will help preserve the skin's protective barrier.
