For thousands of years, mediation has been considered a miracle practice. Renowned for its benefits on the mind and physical ailments, can it also act on our beauty? How and why? We take stock. 

In today's hectic, stressed and neurotic world, meditation offers many a way out. It has to be said that the practice of this ancient art works wonders. It has a positive effect on both the mental and physical state of those who practice it. In addition to the wellness aspect of meditation, for some years now we've also been talking about its almost magical effect on our beauty.  

Meditation to reconnect with your inner self 

Much more than a fad adored by stars and other trendy influencers, meditation is above all an ancestral practice practiced for millennia by beings in search of inner truth. The principle is simple: mindful breathing leads to rest for body and soul. In practice, it's a different matter, as meditation is above all a matter of extreme concentration. An arduous task in today's world, which is far too dynamic (often in the wrong sense of the word). As far as health is concerned, various studies have repeatedly shown that the meditative state drastically reduces stress, anxiety and depression. All in all, meditation improves your mood, clearing your mind of extraneous thoughts and allowing you to concentrate on yourself. The ideal remedy for the malady of the century?

What are its recognized effects on metabolism? 

Mindfulness meditation is an excellent way to regain physical balance. The concentration it demands lowers blood pressure, improves memory and boosts the immune system. Even more surprisingly, meditation reduces pain. The University of California follows up on a study in which 12 controls were tested. Half of them practised meditation regularly and proved to be significantly less receptive to pain than the half who never or hardly ever practised it. Another striking finding was that intensive meditation can (positively) modify the human epigenome. But what does this mean? The epigenome can be translated as a kind of element that modifies the reading of the genetic code by cells, by modifying the DNA. This intervention can have various consequences. If it's caused by stress, for example, it can have a negative effect. However, if meditation enters the scene, these modifications can be completely reversed in a positive way... They would even act on ageing cells, halting their progression. Could it be that the fountain of youth has always been within our reach?

How can meditation boost our beauty? 

As you can see, mediation is a true source of well-being for the human body and mind. In fact, it can simply be considered a beauty booster. This makes sense when you consider that our physical appearance is generally altered by stress, anxiety, fear, fatigue, poor eating habits and addictions... Meditation (practiced regularly) is radical when it comes to these human behavioral disorders. The practice removes all traces of anxiety within us. This first point (and not the least) results in relaxed features (goodbye forced wrinkles), more regular breathing and improved blood oxygenation (better cell regeneration!)... Science is getting involved and even lending credence to meditation. In fact, expert dermatologists have revealed and attested to the incredible power of meditation on cell regeneration. Regular (even daily) meditation limits cell oxidation. The state of calm created by this moment of introspection encourages restful sleep, resulting in a more toned body, brighter skin (goodbye dark circles) and a stronger mind to fight addictions such as caffeine, alcohol and nicotine. All three are known to be detrimental to our beauty... So, who's up for it?
