Eyebrow tinting: what you need to know
Eyebrow tinting: what you need to know
Coralie Techer
For the best eyebrows, they need to be clean, full and pigmented! Eyebrow tinting is the ideal way to achieve this result without the need for microblading. We tell you all about this beauty technique.
It's not new, but this practical beauty technique is becoming increasingly popular. It's true that in recent years, interest in and care for our eyebrows has only increased! We're finally waking up to the fact that eyebrows are essential to the aesthetic harmony of our face. Naturally, techniques for maintaining and beautifying the eyebrows are flourishing or simply resurfacing.
As for tinting, it's not exactly new, it's been around for a long time and has long been practiced with henna... but we can say that the process is now more innovative and more reliable in terms of results and longevity. Its goal? To restore density to sparse and/or too light eyebrows, by tinting the hairs to give them more intensity but above all a natural eyebrow effect. For optimal results, don't hesitate to rely on the application of an eyebrow serum ! The latter acts in addition to the tinting for perfect eyebrows in the long term.

How do I dye my eyebrows?
Eyebrow tinting is an operation similar to permanent make-up, but it's temporary. It's absolutely painless and quite quick! Eyebrow tinting is generally performed in an institute by a licensed professional, especially for the first time. It can be applied to all types of eyebrows and intensifies the look in a sublime, aesthetic way. As you'd expect, eyebrow tinting must be carried out with the utmost seriousness and expertise. After all, eyebrows are a central element of the face, and it would be a shame to botch the application and end up with a botched tint, or worse... If the products used are unsuitable, this could lead to hair loss or even more or less serious skin reactions. Don't hesitate to test the dye on a piece of skin to be sure.
How does salon dyeing work?
As with any action on the face, the practitioner will establish a diagnosis: are there any allergies? What are the needs, which color to apply to the eyebrows according to hair color for a totally natural effect... After her diagnosis and before coloring, the specialist will first pluck the eyebrows. This step is important to define the line and avoid any overlapping.
The dye is then applied with a beveled brush, stretching from the inside of the eyebrow outwards to create a beautiful curve at the arch of the brow. The color lasts about a month (or more) and is resistant to make-up removal, oil, heat, sweat and any external aggression that might alter its result.

Eyebrow tinting at home
In addition to the institute, you can also make your own dye using a home kit. As mentioned above, however, it's best to seek the expertise of a professional for the first time. It's also a good idea to ask her for advice if you're planning to do your next eyebrow tinting at home. How does it work? With the help of a complete kit (always check the reliability of the brand and ingredients!) containing the dye and application accessories, you carefully follow the step-by-step instructions.
Les précautions à prendre pour une teinture à la maison
Perform an allergy test: Before applying the dye to your eyebrows, perform an allergy test on a small area of skin, such as the inside of your wrist. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the recommended allergy test. This will check whether you have an adverse reaction to the dye. Wait at least 24 hours to observe any allergic reaction before applying the dye to your eyebrows.
Read the instructions carefully: Before starting the dyeing process, carefully read the instructions supplied with the dyeing kit. Make sure you understand the steps to be followed and the recommended treatment times.
Choose the right shade: Select a shade of dye that's close to the natural color of your eyebrows to achieve a more natural look. Avoid choosing a shade that's too dark, which could give an unnatural result.
Prepare your skin and eyebrows: Make sure your eyebrows are clean and free of make-up or skin-care products. You can clean your eyebrows with a gentle make-up remover lotion. Avoid applying moisturizing creams or lotions before dyeing, as these can alter the dye's adhesion.
Protect your skin: Use a protective barrier to prevent the dye from staining your skin. You can apply a thin layer of Vaseline or a greasy cream around your eyebrows to create a protective barrier. This will help prevent the dye from penetrating the skin and creating unwanted stains.
Apply with precision: Use a fine brush or the brush supplied in the tinting kit to apply the tint precisely to your eyebrows. Be careful not to go beyond the edges of the eyebrows to avoid tinting the skin.
Follow the instructions supplied with the stain kit for the recommended application time . Don't leave the dye on longer than recommended, as this can lead to unwanted over-coloration.
Carefully remove the dye: Once the application time is over, remove the dye using a damp cotton pad or clean sponge. Be sure to rinse your eyebrows thoroughly to remove all traces of dye.
Did you know? You can dye your eyebrows completely naturally using cocoa powder (ORGANIC and 100% natural) mixed with coconut oil (to fix the pigments). These two ingredients also act as skincare products, as the oil fortifies the hairs and the cocoa nicely coats and protects them with its brown tint.
Advantages and disadvantages of eyebrow tinting
While eyebrow tinting is a good way to restore density and intensity to the eyes, it should be noted that in addition to its advantages, it has a few drawbacks.
Les avantages
Dyeing or tinting your eyebrows gives you fuller, more intense lines without having to go through the make-up process every morning. It instantly adds intensity to the eyes and framework to the overall harmony of the face. Dyes can be synthetic or natural, to suit all skin types. As eyebrow tinting is not permanent, it's also a good way to get a brief overview of the eyebrow shape before a more definitive result such as microblading or microshading!
Disadvantages
It's essential that eyebrow tinting be applied properly, since it's a coloring process. If it's applied incorrectly and not corrected in time, the long-term traces can make... a mess! That's why we recommend calling in an expert for the first few applications. The other drawback is its semi-permanent appearance, which lasts for about a month, requiring monthly touch-ups! This can be quite costly over the year and, above all, it requires you to free up some time, something you don't always have.
The right tip: to make your eyes even more beautiful, take care of the entire eye contour area! How do you do it? By carefully applying a dark circle serum morning and night! Beautiful eyebrows go a long way, but fresh, radiant eyes are even better.

How often should I renew my tincture?
How often you need to renew your eyebrow tint depends on several factors, such as how quickly your eyebrows grow back, personal preference and desired appearance. Generally, eyebrow tinting lasts from two to four weeks and should be renewed accordingly.
It's important to be cautious about frequent eyebrow tinting, as it can potentially cause damage or unwanted over-coloration. If you're not sure how often you should renew your eyebrow tinting, don't hesitate to consult a qualified eyebrow professional or esthetician for personalized advice!
