Microblading - everything you need to know before you start

Microblading - everything you need to know before you start

Coralie Techer

For clean, intense and perfectly drawn eyebrows, microblading is a solution of choice! What is it? Who can apply? We tell you everything.

The eyebrow is a beauty asset that absolutely must be maintained. When we know that it contributes to the harmony of the face , it makes sense... However, for many years, this hairy line that frames our eyes was neglected. In the 90s and 2000s, we even came to make it invisible by thinning it out excessively. A fashion that left after-effects since an eyebrow that is too plucked may never grow back ... To overcome this problem, some people have tried to revive it through tattooing, but there too the ordeal proved unsuccessful. The tattoo is much too raw, it becomes blue as it ages... needless to say, this solution should be banned! Fortunately, there is still a long-lasting and much more aesthetic solution to regain harmonious eyebrows: microblading, which is similar to permanent makeup!

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

You may hear a lot about it, microblading is an aesthetic technique (non-invasive) that will act on the eyebrows in order to restore their shape and beauty. How does it work? Pigments are inserted under the first superficial layer of the skin using a mini scalpel or a metal pen. The latter will act like a tattooist's needle, redrawing the contours of a disappeared line, filling in sparse eyebrows or simply intensifying them.

This is the number 1 solution for those who want to say goodbye to eyebrow makeup every morning! If it is done well, the effect of microblading is amazing . The hair-by-hair drawing allows for an extremely natural result.

The little extra? Microblading allows a smoother transition for those who are waiting for an over-plucked eyebrow to grow back. Moreover, even with microblading, you can apply your ROSEBROW treatment to accelerate hair regrowth.

Regarding its price? We expect around €200 for an initial service. A second session is to be planned three months later to check the pigments' uptake and intensify them if necessary, then the touch-up session is requested once a year to keep a top line.

Is it painful? Some compare it to the pain of a tattoo, others tolerate it more. It all depends on each person's sensitivity and the healing process.

MIROBLADING AND MICROSHADING HOW TO MAKE THE DIFFERENCE?

Microblading, microshading… It can happen that we get confused between these two semi-permanent makeup techniques, which are nevertheless very different.

  • Microblading is a technique to favor if you have an erased or deconstructed line, it will really imitate the effect of eyebrow hairs by reconstructing the base strand by strand. It is an excellent choice for those who want to emphasize their eyes without having to make them up every morning using a pencil.
  • Microshading , on the other hand, applies pigments via a needle that will dab small dots in the eyebrows at the top layer of the skin and leave a powdery effect. As if it had been filled in with eyeshadow or a pencil. The result is similar where the technique differs. However, we note that microblading will last longer, from a year and a half to three years depending on the skin, the habits of each person and the frequency of touch-ups.

WHERE CAN YOU GET YOUR MICROBLADING DONE?

This is not a trivial act, the microblading session must be performed by an approved practitioner. To avoid any side effects and complete failure (remember, microblading is semi-permanent!), the person must be trained and able to attest to it with a diploma. Very often the latter is displayed behind the counter of the institute or in the room where the microblading is practiced.

This can also be verified by asking the right questions: where did the training take place? When was it? How many sessions has the professional practiced since then? By observing the right gestures: each gesture must be on the verge of surgical . The practitioner must disinfect the room between each session, this involves the work surface and the operating chair/table. She must wear gloves and change the blade of her scalpel between different clients.

WHAT ARE THE CONTRAINDICATIONS OF MICROBLADING?

As with any direct intervention on the body, there are some contraindications announced for microblading. The practice is not recommended for people suffering from: coagulation problems, severe acne, isotretinoin treatment, insulin-dependent diabetes. Microblading should also be avoided if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or at risk of serious allergies.

TOUCH-UPS AND MAINTENANCE, HOW TO KEEP YOUR MICROBLADING AT TOP?

It is advisable to have a touch-up once a year, to keep your microblading perfectly drawn. Touch-ups are generally carried out by the practitioner who performed the microblading for a price significantly lower than the first session. Regarding maintenance, as with any tattoo or skin alteration, it is best to avoid direct exposure to the sun! For the first few months, it is advisable to avoid sea and swimming pool water. Immediately after the first session, it is advisable to apply an antiseptic to the inflamed area (eyebrows) followed by Vaseline to speed up healing.

Please note: the eyebrows may form small scabs (due to healing), you should avoid scratching them and give the skin time to regain its full beauty.
