What facial routine for oily skin?

When you have oily skin, your beauty routine can become obsessive! And that's the problem. To avoid jumping on preconceived ideas, it's all about pampering your skin! How? We'll tell you everything.
What should you know about oily skin?
Suffering from a bad reputation, oily skin is a type of skin that is characterized by an excessive production of sebum. Far from being dirty as one might think, this excess sebum can be caused by various factors such as hormones, a diet rich in fats, stress, the use of unsuitable care products or even genetics...

The main characteristics of oily skin
Oily skin has a shiny appearance, a greasy and thick texture, an uneven skin texture with enlarged pores, blemishes (such as pimples or blackheads) and a propensity for acne. The most affected areas are the forehead, nose and chin, the famous T-zone.
As is often said, it is important to take care of your oily skin with the right products! This will prevent as much as possible the clogging of pores and the worsening of skin problems that are already too present. Mostly natural products but also gentle cleansers, toners, light moisturizers and gentle exfoliants can help regulate sebum production and reduce blemishes. In addition, a healthy and balanced diet, physical exercise and stress reduction (meditation, yoga, zen practices) can also help improve the condition of oily skin.
The right routine to adopt for oily skin
Each skin type requires a suitable daily beauty routine. Whether it is combination skin, dry skin, oily skin or normal skin, all require special and different care.
Removing makeup from oily skin
To remove makeup from oily skin, we will rely on a suitable routine to avoid clogging pores and damaging the sebaceous glands with the use of bad cosmetics. Here are the products to favor when you have oily skin:
A purifying cleansing milk: with its double effectiveness, the purifying cleansing milk is formulated to eliminate impurities and excess sebum without drying out the skin. It is often made with natural ingredients such as clay or activated charcoal.
A makeup remover oil: contrary to popular belief (which is hard to die), oily skin does not hate oils! On the contrary, makeup remover oils are particularly suitable for oily and combination skin. They are ideal for removing traces of waterproof makeup and impurities in depth, while regulating sebum production. They are also very nourishing for the skin and thus prevent imperfections.
To absolutely avoid: micellar water and pre-soaked makeup remover wipes. These two products are rather aggressive for the skin. Oily skin is particularly sensitive, micellar water and this type of wipes have a bad tendency to dry out the skin and therefore further increase sebum production!

Cleaning oily skin
Cleansing comes after removing makeup. This is an essential step (for all skin types) that should not be neglected since it will remove the last traces of makeup remover but also encrusted impurities by cleaning the skin deeply. It is done gently , preferably with the fingers in circular movements on the face. A relaxing moment that should become a pleasant ritual.

A foam cleanser: this type of facial cleanser is gentle, it does not dry out or harm the skin! This is also the form in which we find most cleansers specifically for oily skin.
Gel Cleanser: This is another effective form of cleanser for oily skin. In fact, gel cleansers are often the ones recommended by dermatologists.
Be careful to always choose a product that suits you perfectly. To do this, it is best to test several and then stick to the one that matches best.
Gentle exfoliation: this is the last step of cleansing and should be done at least once a week. Exfoliation removes dead skin on the surface, it dislodges the last stubborn impurities and boosts skin cell renewal. When you have oily skin and therefore prone to imperfections such as acne and small pimples, we favor a chemical exfoliant such as a gentle salicylic acid peel, ideal for dilated pores.
Oily skin care
Oily skin requires care, even more than normal and combination skin. Just like dry skin, oily skin suffers from excess, it is important to create a good balance to allow the skin barrier to remain balanced.

A natural mask
Once a week, make a mask with natural active ingredients. Green clay, activated charcoal, turmeric... Leave your mask on for about twenty minutes, making sure it is always damp. Green clay is excellent for controlling excess sebum and purifying the skin! As for activated charcoal, due to its absorbent power it effectively eliminates toxins, it tightens dilated pores and prevents the appearance of blackheads. Turmeric restores radiance and purifies the skin in depth!
A gentle skincare routine
For your skincare, choose gentle treatments. Use a nettle, rosemary or peppermint hydrosol as a tonic in the morning and evening before your skincare routine to purify, soothe the skin and tighten pores. Jojoba vegetable oil can replace your night cream. It is ideal for moisturizing and nourishing the skin without excess, non-comedogenic, it is particularly suitable for oily skin! During the day, you can completely trust pure Aloe Vera gel or any product containing it, to moisturize your skin but also purify it and regulate the action of the sebaceous glands.
Do not neglect facial massage , using beauty tools such as rollers, mushrooms or Ice Globes, stimulate the facial muscles, blood vessels, skin and drainage points in order to eliminate toxins. Finally, summer and winter, do not skip sun protection. A minimum SPF 30 total screen protects the skin barrier from the harmful effects of the sun's rays, thus avoiding the overproduction of imperfections such as pigment spots, blackheads and pimples! (We explain how to prepare your skin for the sun ).
Makeup for oily skin
Be careful, when you have blemish-prone skin you want to camouflage it and you tend to suffocate it under layers of unsuitable makeup. STOP! Let your skin breathe, avoid over-layers of compact foundation, the cakey effect is a no-no. Choose fluid and care textures (like a CC serum, a BB cream or a care foundation) to blur the marks and not roughly camouflage them. Add controlled shine with a light powder, a little color with a blush stick and if necessary powder the T-zone to mask the greasy appearance due to sebum.

Bet on a magnified look to draw attention away from imperfections. Lengthen your lashes with an XXL effect mascara (double its effectiveness with an eyelash serum ), opt for a beautiful brown/copper smoky effect during the day and black/silver in the evening, hide dark circles with a concealer (after having sufficiently hydrated the area using a suitable eye contour serum). On the lips, a touch of gloss to enhance everything and there you have perfect makeup...
The ultimate beauty tip? As with your body, love your skin and let it know it. Treat it gently with tender gestures, opt for a healthy diet adapted to your needs, massage it from time to time. Whether it is dry, oily, tight, acneic... be proud of it, of yourself quite simply. This is most certainly the best beauty tip to give and apply!
