How do I fake a mole?

How do I fake a mole?

Coralie Techer

Distinctive facial features are all the rage. From fake freckles to fake beauty marks, here we take a look at the second phenomenon that's setting the social networking world alight.

It's certainly not a trend that can be attributed to gen Z. The false mole is nothing new, and certainly nothing new. To understand its origins, we need to go back to 18th-century Europe, and particularly France.

Fake moles: the origins of the trend

The faux mole trend emerged in 18th-century Europe, particularly in France, where it quickly became all the rage. At the time, moles were considered a sign of beauty and social distinction. Women and men used small pieces of fabric, called "flies", to imitate the appearance of a mole.

This trend has continued through the centuries and became particularly popular during the 1920s, when women wore dresses with bare backs and plunging necklines, showing off their moles... Today, although moles are no longer considered a mark of social distinction, the fake mole trend persists and is often used as a stylistic element or an absolutely endorsed fashion statement on social networks.

Why go for a fake mole?

A false mole adds a unique and distinctive touch to your appearance, serving as an element of style and character that sets you apart from others. Properlyplaced, it can help highlight certain facial features by drawing attention to specific areas, such as the lips, cheekbones or chin.

In some cases, a false mole can be used to create visual balance or correct facial asymmetry. It can help create the illusion of harmony by adding an extra focal point. It can also be used to camouflage small details such as a piercing hole, an old scar or even small pimples.

How do I get a fake mole?

If you'd like to succumb to the faux mole trend and treat yourself to the distinctive Marilyn Monroe look, there are several options available. On the corner of the lips, on the cheek or even on the nose, it's up to you to choose the spot that suits you best and opt for the solution that appeals to you most.

And don't forget that the false mole trick is also a clever solution for... camouflaging small pimples! Many celebrities use this trick, and the results are quite stunning.

The homemade make-up solution

Make-up can be used in many different ways, including to create a false mole. To do this, there are different ways of using make-up products:

Drawing your mole:Choose a dark brown or black eyebrow pencil and draw a small dot in the desired spot. You can also use a dark eye or lip pencil, liquid eyeliner or kohl pencil in black or the color of your choice. Make sure you don't press too hard to avoid hurting yourself or making a mess! You can also opt for eyeshadow, using a beveled brush with a moistened tip to pick up some material and subtly apply it to the desired area.

The reusable fly solution

This is the quick technique. For those who don't want to bother with the make-up step, the sticker or fly is a good alternative. Simply stick the little fly in the shape of a mole, exactly where you want it. The plus? It's reusable, so you can have fun with its shape. The more fanciful will opt for original shapes like a fancy heart or star-shaped mole, while the more classic can choose between a flat sticker or a raised mole. In terms of texture, there's also a choice between a silk mole (more delicate and discreet) or a velvet mole (more pronounced and intense).

The permanent make-up solution

It's the ultimate solution, since it's akin to a tattoo. Permanent make-up or dermo-pigmentation to create a false mole is becoming increasingly common. Already widely used for fake freckles, permanent make-up is a decision that needs to be carefully considered! Be sure to talk to the professional before you go ahead, and think carefully about where you want to apply the false beauty mark, but above all choose a proven specialist. Please note that dermal pigmentation is not really permanent (unlike tattooing), and the pigments will eventually fade after a few years.

Bon à savoir :Quelle que soit la méthode choisie, assurez-vous de toujours nettoyer soigneusement la zone où vous appliquerez votre faux grain de beauté et utilisez des produits non irritants pour éviter les réactions cutanées.

The little extra to enhance your fake mole

To highlight this little beauty detail, there's nothing better than a face full of make-up! False moles are generally located towards the lower part of the face or towards the eyes. False moles near the mouth, as in the case of Eva Mendes, Cindy Crawford or Marilyn Monroe, are an unstoppable seductive asset, giving a femme fatale look. In particular, it allows you to accentuate the lips with a luscious mouth effect. You can also opt for a simple lip balm, as long as your lips are well moisturized!

When it comes to false moles on the eyes, it's all about intimate eye make-up. Like Dita Von tees with her almond-shaped eyes, we'll favor the use of eyeliner to extend the look and draw the eye towards the false mole. You can also choose to stretch your eyeshadow into a beautiful smocky.
