How to get doe eyes?

How to get doe eyes?

ROSEGOLD Paris

The ultimate symbol of glamour, doe eyes make your eyes look bigger and enhance your entire look. To get it right the first time, we have our little tips. How to use eyeliner, choose your eyeshadow, apply the right skincare products... Difficult? Don't panic, we'll explain everything you need to know to get it right in six steps.

The doe eye is an eye makeup technique that aims to create a sensual, slightly bewitching almond-shaped look, similar to that of a doe (hence the name). This technique focuses on widening the outer corners of the eyes to give them a more elongated shape and a more dramatic appearance. Here's how to achieve a doe eye in makeup:

The six essential steps to achieving successful doe-eye makeup.

1. Always apply an eyeshadow base

This is an essential rule, if not the very first rule of make-up! Before starting a make-up session (no matter which one), apply a base. For the complexion as well as for the eyelids. The eyelid base allows the eye make-up to set and keep its intense side all day long. It is also a good way to prevent the colored liner and thus avoids the "panda" effect at the end of the day.

2. Choose the right eyeshadow

After applying the base, we move on to choosing the eyeshadow that defines all the intensity of the look. For a modern look, we favor a creamy nude or pearly eyeshadow. If we want to add color at all costs, then we can opt for an ochre, rust or warm brown eyeshadow.

3. Apply a nourishing eyelash serum

The doe-eyed look necessarily involves elongated eyelashes! Since we are not all lucky enough to be born with Brigitte Bardot's eyelashes, serums that help with regrowth (like our ROSELASH serum ) are essential assets. In just a few weeks of application, you can already see the difference. With daily use, consider that the serum in question can act as a base for mascara and thus help it hold better while caring for the eyelashes.

4. Dare to use the famous eyeliner stroke

It's scary in many ways, we're afraid to start and end up with a black eye. That's normal! To succeed with your liner line, you must first be comfortable with your applicator. Always choose the one that suits us best. In store before any purchase (and if possible) it is better to ask for a test, in order to understand the handling and choose the one with which we are most comfortable. Brush, felt-tip pen, pencil... There are enough types of liner to be able to decide!

To draw your pencil line, it's simple:

This involves drawing a very first line along the upper lashes. Be careful, the urban legend of stretching the eyelid while applying the line is false! It distorts the line of liner more than it helps with its application. Once the first line is drawn, it is up to each person to define the desired thickness. A little tip, to avoid trembling, it is advisable to sit in front of a mirror placed on a table and to rest your elbows on the table. Glamorous makeup guaranteed.

For a more "fun" makeup, don't hesitate to choose a colored liner, yellow, pink, green or blue! It's the trend, we assume our desires and our follies.

5. Eyelash curler yes, but before mascara!

This is the major asset for those who want 24/7 curled eyelashes. The eyelash curler may look like a torture instrument, but it is nonetheless adored by beautystas, and above all very simple to use. Three small presses on each side for elongated and beautifully curled eyelashes in just five minutes. The good idea? Run the eyelash curler under very hot water to facilitate the curl of the eyelash hairs.

6. The final touch, applying mascara

After having gone through all these steps for a doe-eyed look, we finish the practice with the final touch: lengthening mascara. Some say that it is essential for beauty, mascara opens the eyes and intensifies in a "natural" way. It delicately lengthens the eyelashes, as long as we avoid overdoing it and ending up with clumps. To apply your mascara correctly, we put the material on the eyelashes by making light zigzags from the inside of the eyelashes to the outside, while stretching towards the outer corner. We may go over it a second time, but we avoid the multiple layers of mascara that leave very ugly clumps... Not to mention that they weigh down the eyelashes and therefore cancel out the "lengthened and curved" effect so sought after from the beginning.

The materials needed to do “doe eyes” makeup

To achieve doe eye makeup, you will need several makeup products and tools to achieve the desired look.

  1. Eyelid Makeup Primer: An eyelid makeup primer can help even out the texture of your eyelid skin and make your makeup last longer.

  2. Eyeshadows: You can use one or more shades of eyeshadow to create the base of color on your lids. Generally, opt for neutral shades for a classic doe-eye look.

  3. Eyeliner: Liquid or gel eyeliner is essential for lining your upper lash line. Choose a color that suits your look, with black being the most common.

  4. Eyeliner Brush or Angled Brush: You'll use this brush to apply eyeliner with precision and to create the characteristic comma or wing of a doe eye.

  5. Eye Pencil: An eye pencil can be used to define the lower lash line and create a more intense look if needed.

  6. Mascara: Mascara adds length and volume to your lashes. Choose a mascara that suits your needs, whether it's a lengthening, volumizing, or waterproof mascara.

  7. False Eyelashes (Optional): If you want an even more dramatic look, you can use false eyelashes. Make sure you have some false eyelash glue to secure them in place.

  8. Tweezers (optional): Tweezers can be helpful for accurately placing false eyelashes and adjusting them if necessary.

  9. Eyelash curler (optional): An eyelash curler can help give your natural lashes a sleek curl before applying mascara.

  10. Brow Brush (Optional): If you want to work on your brows to frame your eyes, a brow brush can help you style and define them.

  11. Eye Makeup Remover: It is important to have a good quality eye makeup remover to remove the makeup when you are done.

  12. Cotton swabs and makeup remover pads: You can use these products to correct mistakes and to gently clean sensitive areas around the eyes.

The editorial team’s little tips:

For the look to be part of a harmonious whole, it is good to think about a pretty complexion. We apply makeup lightly by choosing a foundation with little coverage (the look is already well worked!). Like a CC Cream or a tinted cream. To add the healthy glow effect, we start with a touch of creamy blush (pink or peach) and finish with a glossy gourmet lip. Since the look is emphasized, it is not recommended to choose a lipstick that is too flashy... But makeup is a matter of taste, so each to their own style!
