What are the different stages of an eyebrow transplant?

To better understand the eyebrow transplant process, it is important to break down the steps.

Preparation with the doctor

As with any surgical operation, eyebrow transplant surgery requires a prior interview with the specialist in charge of the operation. This consultation will help define the area where the hair follicles will be harvested and will be used for the graft, as well as establish the aesthetic needs and desires (size, thickness, straightness, archedness) that will result in a successful graft. Graft harvesting

Very often the implants are directly extracted from the skull. It is the double or single follicles which are chosen to fill the eyebrow arch, the doctor extracts the latter under local anesthesia, using a micro-device.

Implantation of grafts

Once the grafts have been extracted from the chosen area, they must be implanted at the level of the eyebrow arches to reconstruct the eyebrows as desired! This step is meticulous and also takes place under local anesthesia. Each follicle is implanted one by one in order to best respect the desired line and thickness. How does the post-transplant period go?

After the operation, there are a few rules to follow to maximize healing and allow the graft to take well. As stipulated by the Maison Lutétia aesthetics center, the month following the operation, you must:

• Avoid applying makeup to your eyebrows. Let the area breathe as much as possible and, above all, avoid applying products that could be irritating while it is still healing.
• Be careful to trim the eyebrows with scissors, the new hairs grow quickly. Still having the reflexes of a hair that grows twice as fast as the eyebrow hairs, the graft will grow about one cm per month.
• Train the grafts to take the desired eyebrow line by styling them regularly in the direction of growth and brushing them with a shaping gel for a harmonious shape.

How to maintain your eyebrow transplant on a daily basis?

All you need to do is apply the right gestures and, above all, give the skin time to heal properly. We must not forget that the graft is not trivial, even if the body receives grafts that are known to it since they are hairs extracted from the head, there may always be a risk of rejection. Postoperative monitoring is therefore essential! When the first few months after surgery have passed, there is not much left to monitor and life can resume as if nothing had happened...
