Face Yoga for a Natural Facelift

Face Yoga for a Natural Facelift

Coralie Techer

It tightens the skin, plumps it up, smooths the texture and restores radiance... We're not talking about surgeon's needles, but rather about facial yoga. A miracle practice that consists of a few facial gym exercises for an almost instant and lasting facelift. Zoom in on this natural radiance boost that we've all been waiting for.

Face Yoga: What is it?

It has been a sensation for a few seasons now, Face Yoga is the new trendy and well-being practice to try. Well-established in Asian countries, popular in the United States, the practice is spreading more and more in France. You may have even already come across it on Youtube via the videos of Sylvie Lefranc (author of the book "Face Yoga"). This facial gym draws its origins from the general practice of yoga. The principle is the same although localized to the face and all the muscles that compose it. This totally natural method can be compared to the Kobido massage , since it regenerates the facial muscles by making them work in depth but also by combining massages, acupressure and exercises similar to yin yoga.

The expected and promised result?

Improved blood circulation, firmer skin, even complexion and toxins eliminated. The facial muscles are like all the muscles in the body, if they are not used, they end up softening and… Sagging. Hence the oval of the face that relaxes as we age. To remedy this, facial yoga is the right solution. By restoring all its elasticity to the epidermis, it will undeniably tighten this fragile part of the human body. It is the assurance of a facelift , without having to spend thousands or suffer under the needles of a surgeon. A real revolution!

A practice approved by science

One of the greatest aspects of facial yoga is that it helps rejuvenate facial features in a rather dramatic way. According to a study published in the journal Jama Dermatology, researchers attest to the effectiveness of this practice in our frantic quest for the anti-aging miracle. Indeed, during the study, thirty people practiced the 32 facial exercises recommended by facial yoga every day for eight weeks. Aged forty to sixty-five, the volunteers were able to notice convincing signs from the ninth week. After 20 weeks, the change was radical (plumped cheeks, lifted upper eyelids, firmed facial oval, luminous complexion) and the average had physically rejuvenated by two years.

To summarize, we can expect from facial yoga:

  • A tight oval
  • Softer skin
  • A luminous complexion
  • A refined grain
  • Chubby cheeks
  • Wrinkles faded
  • An awakened look
  • A smoothed eye contour.

A miracle? No, obviously, these effects are the result of regular and diligent practice. Like general yoga or any other form of sport, practicing facial yoga requires iron rigor !

How to practice facial yoga at home?

Face yoga is so simple that it can be practiced at home, without the presence of a coach or special equipment (although you can add the use of natural stone mushrooms, Gua Sha or a stone roller). It is ideally practiced in the morning before starting your day. Among other things, it allows you to release tension and get off to a good start. Every morning after getting up and before any preparation, give yourself five to ten minutes of relaxation for this well-being ritual. By taking deep breaths and adding a mantra (OM to release tension for example), you apply the different exercises inspired by Sylvie Lefranc's recommendations:

To reduce lion's wrinkles:

Repeat five times. With the index finger, massage the inter-eyebrow area, from bottom to top and in a cyclical manner. Then compress the muscle of the area with the palm of the hand.

To smooth your forehead:

To be repeated ten times. To relax the forehead and soften it from the worries accumulated over the course of our days, place both hands on the top of the forehead. Slide them up and back while lowering the eyes, hold the muscular tension for five seconds. Release while exhaling.

To smooth smile lines:

Repeat twice. To smooth out small nasolabial wrinkles, otherwise known as smile lines. Stretch the temples backwards using the palms of the hands. At the same time, form an O with the mouth while sticking the upper lip to the teeth for five seconds.

To tone the oval of the face:

Repeat five times. Cup your hands under your chin, making sure to wrap around your face. Create resistance with your head tilted forward, hold for ten seconds, release, exhale and repeat. You can also apply this exercise with a Gua Sha!

To smooth crow's feet:

Repeat five times. Thumbs on the back of the neck, the rest of the hand at the temples. Slide the fingers back without moving the thumbs. Hold for five seconds, release and repeat.

To smooth the lip contour:

Repeat three times. Inflate your cheeks, press your hand on your lips as if to prevent air from escaping. Hold for five seconds. For plumped lips , have fun creating vibrations with your mouth by blowing very hard.

What cosmetic treatments complement the practice?

Massage and acupressure are very effective ways to penetrate cosmetic treatments deep into the skin. The reactivated blood circulation will allow better absorption of the active ingredients that the epidermis needs to hydrate and nourish itself as best as possible. The morning session of facial yoga can therefore be perfectly combined with the application of treatments.

We save time while doing ourselves good. We can apply our day cream, our anti-dark circles and bags eye contour serum , our jelly or even a vegetable oil (always cold pressed) in order to benefit from the best effects!

So will you let yourself be tempted by this miracle and totally natural facelift?
