Browlift: how and what to use to pluck your eyebrows?

Browlift: how and what to use to pluck your eyebrows?

Coralie Techer

The trend towards perfect eyebrows has put the browlift in the spotlight. This technique, which consists in fixing eyebrow hairs in a precise shape, is all the rage, both in beauty salons and at home. How do you go about it? We've got it covered.

How do you get beautiful eyebrows? It's a question we've all asked ourselves once in our lives. Indeed, taking care of your eyebrows has never been so trendy, to the point where there are now places specially dedicated to their care! Whether thin, thick, full, short or long, everyone has their own eyebrow style. These two lines of hair that overhang the eyes are an undeniable asset for accentuating the beauty of the features, but also for protecting our little eyes from external dangers such as UV radiation, sweat or dust. And yes, eyebrows aren't there just to look pretty.

Placing and raising eyebrows is a trend

Trends come and go, but always with the aim of improving our aesthetics and simplifying our daily lives. While ultra-thin eyebrows may be making a comeback, they will surely coexist with the (insistent) triumph of thick, full eyebrows. That's a good thing, long live diversification. However, there's one technique that's sure to win everyone's approval: the browlift. This way of setting and enhancing eyebrow hairs to give them hold and shape, adapts to all eyebrow styles. Whether thin or thick, nothing beats well-trimmed eyebrows.

What exactly is a browlift?

Basically, the browlift, also known as forehead lift or brow lift, is an aesthetic surgical procedure used to correct sagging eyebrows and forehead. It aims to reposition the eyebrows to a higher, more youthful position, removing horizontal forehead wrinkles and improving the overall appearance of the forehead area. But in common parlance, browlift now refers to a non-surgical technique that aims to fix the eyebrow hairs upwards to enlarge the eyes and structure the facial features non-invasively.

Brow lift, soap brow, eyebrow mascara... What products should I use to lift and plump my eyebrows?

Eyebrows can be enhanced and plumped using a variety of highly effective products and techniques. Here are some of the most popular options:

Brow Lift

The pro tip: use a product specially designed for brow lift, also known as brow gel or brow wax. These products are usually transparent or tinted, and are applied with a brow brush to sculpt and hold brows in place.

The Soap Brows

The most home-made: soap brow is a technique that uses transparent soap to shape and plump eyebrows. Simply rub a damp eyebrow brush lightly over the soap, then comb brows in the desired direction. This method gives brows a thick, textured look!

Eyebrow mascara

The simplest: eyebrow mascaras are tinted products specially formulated to thicken and set eyebrows. They are applied with a mascara brush to add color, texture and hold to brows. Choose a shade close to that of your brows for a natural result.

Eyebrow pencil

The most trompe l'oeil: eyebrow pencils are ideal for filling in sparse areas and defining eyebrow shape. It's best to choose a shade similar to that of the eyebrows, and draw short, light strokes to fill in the necessary areas. Then use a brow brush to blend the pencil and give a more natural look.

Tinted eyebrow gel

All-in-one: tinted brow gels are practical products for enhancing and fixing brows while adding color. They generally come with a small brush for applying the gel while styling.

It's important to choose quality products that are adapted to your needs. Before deciding, it's a good idea to try out different products and techniques to find out what works best for you and your eyebrows! For those with eyebrows that are too short or too thin, don't hesitate to use an eyebrow serum to boost their growth and shine, and make browlifts easier to apply!

How does a browlift work at a beauty salon?

It's worth noting that an institute browlift is generally a non-surgical technique that aims to temporarily raise the eyebrows using a variety of methods. Specific details may vary depending on the institute and the technique used, but here's a general overview of what you can expect during an institute browlift:

  1. Consultation: It all starts with a consultation with an institute professional. Expectations, desired brow shape and appearance preferences are discussed. The professional will also assess the condition of the eyebrows and advise on the best approach to achieve the desired results.

  2. Preparation: Before starting treatment, the eyebrow area must be prepared. This may include cleansing the skin to remove any traces of make-up or oil, and applying a disinfectant solution.

  3. Eyebrow enhancement techniques: Various techniques can be used to enhance eyebrows. Mild chemicals are used to soften and loosen the eyebrow hairs, followed by combing and brushing the eyebrows into a desired position. Finally, a fixing product is applied to hold the eyebrows in place.

  4. Finishing: Once the eyebrows have been enhanced, the professional can perform additional touch-ups to ensure that the eyebrows have an even, natural appearance. This includes trimming and plucking unwanted hairs, as well as applying a finishing product to hold the brows in place.

  5. After care: After treatment, the professional will give you advice on after-care, such as: avoiding eyebrow make-up for a few hours, using gentle products to clean the eyebrow area, and avoiding excessive exposure to the sun or activities that could compromise results.

Browlift results are generally temporary, lasting from a few weeks to a few months. To maintain results, regular touch-ups are necessary, and a small dedicated budget is required.
