What you need to know about false eyelash glue

False eyelash glue is a glue specially designed to attach false eyelashes to the eyelids without damage! It's always good to know what you're putting on your skin. But have you ever wondered what's in the glue? Most glues for false eyelashes are made from ethyl acrylate or cyanoacrylate, which are synthetic polymers that are resistant to water and cosmetics. You need at least that to be able to wear false eyelashes without fear of losing them in the rain, through sweat or from eye shadow. For people with sensitive eyes, there are suitable latex-free or hypoallergenic glues. In terms of aesthetics, false eyelash glue is totally transparent to ensure discretion, but some brands offer black glue to accentuate an "eyeliner" effect.

How do you remove false eyelashes without damaging them?

Removing false lashes without damaging them is simple, but above all requires a minimum of patience and dexterity, just like applying them! (We explain how to apply false lashes). Make sure you've got everything you need, i.e.: a soft, special nail polish remover (especially not nail polish remover!), vegetable oil (such as sweet almond oil), or make-up remover, to dissolve the glue, a cotton bud, several cotton pads, a make-up brush and the little box of false eyelashes to put them in safely so you can reuse them later.

False eyelashes can be removed in several stages:

  1. Prepare glue remover: It's important to use the right product to dissolve glue from false eyelashes, such as a mild glue remover specially designed for false eyelashes, vegetable oil or oil-based make-up remover. Avoid using harsh chemicals or hot water, as these can damage false eyelashes and irritate the eyeball.

  2. Apply nail polish remover (of any kind) to false lashes: Gently apply nail polish remover to the base of false lashes using a cotton bud, cotton pad or make-up brush. Be careful not to get any in your eyes.

  3. Leave on: Leave the remover (whatever it is) to work for about a minute. This will loosen the glue and facilitate removal of the false lashes.

  4. Gently remove false lashes: To remove false lashes, start at the outer corner of the eye and gently pull towards the center. Don't pull too hard, as this can damage natural lashes or the skin around the eye.

  5. Remove any remaining glue residue: If any glue remains on your natural lashes or skin, the ideal solution is to use a cotton swab soaked in nail polish remover to gently remove what's left. Again, be careful not to rub too hard to avoid irritating the skin.

  6. Clean your eyes: Gently wash your eyes with lukewarm water and neutral soap to remove any traces of remover or remaining glue and ensure clean lashes. Next, apply a moisturizing cream to soothe the skin, your eye contour treatment to restore radiance, and an eyelash serum to add strength to natural lashes.

Be careful not to pull or rub too hard when removing false lashes. This can damage natural lashes or the skin around the eye. If you have difficulty removing false lashes, consult a professional for help. Another method sometimes recommended is to use steam to dilute the glue... Please note that the eye area is an extremely sensitive zone, and it's best to avoid using hot steam in this area.

What to avoid when trying to remove false eyelash glue from your eyes

When applying the various steps listed above to remove false eyelash glue residue from your eyelids, avoid at all costs doing so by rubbing the area vigorously, as this could damage the eyelid and accelerate the aging process of the skin, thus speeding up the appearance of wrinkles. On the other hand, avoid pulling on false eyelashes to remove them. It's a bad idea that could cost you a few tears! To protect your eyes as much as possible, never use tweezers to remove your false eyelashes. Besides, you risk tearing off your natural lashes... that would be a shame!
