The perfect complexion: our tips for flawless skin, even without foundation!

Does a flawless complexion without make-up seem impossible? Not when you have the right tips and adopt the right beauty routine. We tell you everything you need to know to achieve beautiful skin without foundation!
A fast-paced lifestyle can quickly take its toll on the appearance of our skin... Between pollution, junk food, stress and all the other parasites that can be added to our daily lives, it's hardly surprising to suffer from skin in poor condition. To remedy the situation, all you need to do is adopt the right habits.
Step 1: Know your skin type
Before treating a problem, we always try to understand its origin and how we can best treat it! It's the same with skin care. Every human being is unique, and the same goes for skin, which has to meet certain criteria in order to be categorized! Whether it's combination, oily, dry or sensitive, depending on its definition, your skin will need specific care. So before embarking on any routine, it's vital to diagnose your skin type. Many tests are available on the Internet, but the best thing to do is call in a professional (a dermatologist, for example), to be sure of being guided towards the right choices.
Pour mieux comprendre son type de peau :
- Combination skin: dry on the cheeks and oily on the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin). Moisturize with a light moisturizer or a watery floral serum.
- Dry skin: It feels tight and may have flakes! Dry skin requires rich hydration, such as a cream, gel, or balm.
- Sensitive skin: It's highly reactive to cold, heat, wind... in short, to all sorts of external aggressions. A gentle, soothing treatment (like rosehip oil) is best for this type of skin.
- Oily skin: Oily skin suffers from excess sebum all over the face. It can develop imperfections (pimples, blackheads). Contrary to popular belief, oily skin requires good hydration! Make sure to cleanse it gently with neutral soaps and choose mattifying skincare products.

Step 2: Adopt a healthy, balanced diet
There's no miracle recipe: everything we ingest ends up showing on our skin. For smooth, plump skin with a glowy, luminous complexion, we need to eat a healthy, balanced diet (while allowing ourselves a little indulgence for pleasure). How do you do this? We avoid saturated fats and refined sugars as much as possible (reheated dishes, cold meats, industrial pastries, industrial sauces... in short, anything industrial). Add plenty of fruit (rich in water and vitamins) to your diet. But be careful: fruit should be eaten as a snack, for breakfast or tea. Avoid taking it as a dessert to avoid bloating, as fruit ferments in the stomach when it comes into contact with other foods. The ideal (almost magical) food for a sun-kissed complexion is the carrot! No, it doesn't make you lovable, but yes, it can give you the perfect complexion.
The benefits of carotene: Incorporating carotene into your diet would be an excellent way to maintain a fresh and luminous complexion naturally! Why? The beta-carotene found in carrots is rich in vitamin A. A vitamin that boosts and strengthens the skin, also making it more radiant. The ideal is to drink carrot juice every morning as a three-week course. To vary your diet and enjoy yourself, papaya, pumpkin, and mango (which all contain carotene) are also very good allies for a radiant complexion!
Drink plenty of water: obviously, carotene is not a miracle ingredient (almost?), besides that you have to keep in mind that hydration remains the basis of healthy skin (and body). We hydrate ourselves regularly throughout the day (up to 1.5 L). To be sure not to forget our daily dose of water, we keep a small water bottle close to us, which we will make sure to fill as soon as we see the bottom! If water does not appeal to us, we can do a detox by adding citrus fruits like lemon, orange or even mint leaves, passion fruit, strawberries or raspberries... In short, anything that we fancy and that can make water more appetizing while doing us good.
Step 3: adopting the right gestures in everyday life
While eating a balanced diet is a good gesture in itself, there are others to adopt to complete our beauty routine and get beautiful skin naturally.
- Getting enough sleep: it seems obvious, and yet in France we are not the best students when it comes to sleep quota! Night owls are commonplace, but it is often our lifestyle that prevents us from doing otherwise. The best thing to do is to organize your days carefully, stop work at 5:30 p.m./6 p.m. (doesn't have a complete file? Too bad, it can wait until tomorrow). Have an early dinner (7 p.m.) to aid digestion, relax in front of a good movie (or any other activity you enjoy) and finally turn off all screens a good hour before going to bed (blue light is a stimulant, in addition to damaging the skin!). 8 hours of sleep are necessary for adults to properly regenerate their energy.
- Avoiding addictive substances is easier said than done. Cutting out cigarettes and alcohol are two essential and major factors if you want to achieve a porcelain complexion without overdoing it with the makeup brush.
- Practice facial gymnastics: otherwise known as facial yoga, facial gymnastics is a series of exercises that involve working the muscles in this part of the body to prevent sagging or excess fat! Tutorials are easy to find on YouTube, and books have even been published on the subject (see "Face Yoga" by Sylvie Lefranc). This trend has many followers and the results are reliable: elasticity, plumped skin, glowy complexion (activated blood microcirculation).
- Applying moisturizer AND sunscreen daily: two steps that are easily forgotten in the hustle and bustle of life. Moisturizing your skin and protecting it from the sun is essential. To avoid spots, premature aging, and other sun-related problems.
